YOUR VOICE AGAINST POVERTY is a joint campaign run by VENRO, as the umbrella association of more
than 100 German development non-governmental organisations, artist Herbert Groenemeyer and experts
and friends within the PR and media industry. They are calling on the Federal Government to show more
commitment to achieving the UN Millennium Goals.
The campaign sees itself as part of the Global Call to Action against Poverty (GCAP), a civil society alliance
in more than 112 countries. Everywhere, the White Band stands as a symbol for the world-wide campaign.

Well, last Thursday, we've been at the big concert. 80,000 people listened to a full 6 hour programme of 15 national and international bands (Herbert Groenemeyer, Bono Vox (U2), Bob Geldof, Die Fantastischen Vier, Die
Toten Hosen, Seeed, Silbermond, 2Raumwohnung, Sportfreunde Stiller and Beatsteaks are to meet Mo’Some Big Noise from Mozambique, Peter Miles from Uganda, Leo Muntu from Zambia, Bassekou Kouyate from Mali, Bangla from Bangladesh and Perrozompopo from Nicaragua).

In between authentic films describing life in the P8 (poorest 8 countries of the world = Mali, Uganda,
Mozambique, Zambia, Bangladesh, Cambodia, Nicaragua and Bolivia) were shown and committed people like Indian women’s rights campaigner Vandana Shiva and Nobel Peace Prize Winner Mohammed Yunus from Bangladesh made speaches.

It was soooo great. The people there were listening not only to the well-known bands and artists, they were really interested in what goes on in Africa. I mean, everybody knows thousands are dying there from hunger and violence but seeing it on the big screen touched me deeply.

When Bono from U2 and Bob Geldof sang with Grönemeyer I had full body goose bumbs - their voices together like that were very impressive.

I still have the refrains in my head: 80,000 voices singing the Beatles song "Boy, you gonna carry the weight, carry the weight a long time" 7 times for each president and then one time "girl, you gonna carry the weight, carry the weight a long time" for our president Angela Merkel.

The big finish was screaming at the top of your lungs "Keep your promise! Keep your promise!" a thousand times, so they over in Heiligendamm (G8 summit) would hear us.

There were no problems with violent people. I was relieved to see that peaceful protest can be even more powerful than stupid, meaningless riots. I am sad the G8-week started off so badly but I'm glad after that one time everything stayed calm.

Anyway, I'm still dissappointed by the outcome of the G8 summit. A non-binding pledge to cut the CO2 emission by at least half by 2050 - pfft.

Actually, as much as I my LJ like, this journal is slowly growing on me. Might have to do with the "tainted" feeling I am associating with LJ right now. I just hate that through this incident I have to defend my hobby.

"I am writing fanfic - I am not some child molesting, abusing, raping, incesty monster!!!"

I think it's just my imagination going overboard, I am sure.

1: What do you do in your spare time?
2: Oh, I am writing fanfic, I have an LJ where I post it.
1: An LJ... so you, erm, write fic about kids, erm,...
2: What? No! I mean I write fanfic about men from TV Series having sex...
1: So they're not underaged?
2: No, erm, mostly not. There is some Harry Potter and...
1: Man, they're 11!!
2: Only in the first book... but there is BtVS, too. They're at least 15.
1: 15? And they have sex with each other or with grown ups?
2: Well, yeah, with vampires too, these guys are at least 120 years.
1: 15 and 120? Kinda hits me still as wrong.
2: Erm, there is SPN! They're all grown up.
1: Aren't these brothers?
2: Oh - yeah. But they're grown up.
1: But brothers... incest, ever heard of?
2: *sigh* But they're only related in fiction, not in real life, they're TV Stars playing brothers.
1: So why don't you write about them as real persons getting it on?
2: Because I like the Series, it's just more interesting when they're hunters and...
1: Brothers?
2: *sigh* But it's not real! It's just fiction. I write some porn, I read way more of it, damn it and I like it, okay? I like my kinks and and it's not as if I am doing anything illegal here.
1: And you don't feel weird getting turned on by incest and sex with minors?
2: It's fiction! FICTION!
1: But you're getting off on the idea of incest and minors having sex?
2: *cries*

I don't feel the need to abuse, rape, molest minors or my baby brother. I swear.
I just try to enjoy fandom but why is that so hard to explain to outsiders???

Help anybody?

Listening to these Nazis from "Warriors For Innocence" without checking them out? Calling *them* the idiots now? In my opinion LJ screwed up. I lost my trust in LJ because I don't like people not taking the time to take a closer look or to see if there might be more to stuff than on the first look.

Life is about difference.
